American Home Shield Newest REALTOR VIP Partner

The NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS® announced today its newest REALTOR VIP® Program partner, American Home Shield®, the largest home warranty provider in the United States serving more than 5 million customers in the past 30 years.

American Home Shield®, a wholly owned subsidiary of The ServiceMaster Company, provides home warranties that cover breakdowns of a home’s protected systems and appliances. The home warranty contract is usually sold during the real estate transaction.

“In addition to providing a great value to home buyers, sellers and our members, AHS provides the homebuyer with a $50 ServiceMaster Savings Certificate on behalf of the REALTOR® who sells a fully paid and funded home warranty,” said Bob Goldberg, NAR senior vice president of marketing and business development and head of the REALTOR VIP® Program. “The certificate can be redeemed at any of the following ServiceMaster companies: AmeriSpec, Furniture Medic, Merry Maids, ARS/Rescue Rooter, ServiceMaster Clean, Terminix, and TruGreen ChemLawn.”

Currently, there are six states where gift the savings certificates will not be distributed—New Hampshire, Nevada, Ohio, Oregon, Virginia and Wisconsin—until regulatory approval is secured.

“AHS has served millions of home buyers and sellers through thousands of real estate professionals over the last 30 years,” said David Crawford, senior vice president for AHS. “To be a part of this outstanding REALTOR VIP® Program only reinforces our commitment to the real estate community. AHS provides a key service to the real estate professional by making home warranties available during the real estate transaction. The agent is able to offer the product at the time when home sellers are concerned with closing the transaction and homebuyers are looking for reassurance on the reliability of the home’s systems and appliances.”

“AHS’s warranties provide a controlled premium and a low trade-call fee for each visit by a service technician. There is no additional charge for emergency service, although additional charges may apply for certain repairs and replacements,” added Crawford. “When an issue arises, the homeowner can contact AHS directly 24 hours a day, at which time one of our thousands of contractors will be contacted to set a mutually convenient time to make any covered repair or replacement.”
